League Information

2008 Youth Football Leagues:  

 

Football Jamboree:  All kids will participate in a Football Jamboree on Saturday August 23rd. 

Team pictures, preseason game, and a City of Elk River Sponsered Punt, Pass, and Kick Contest.

 

All leagues are contact leagues with blocking and tackling above and below the waist. 

Parent need to provide:  White helmet, shoulder pads, football or all-pupose shoes, and a practice

jersey.

 

Association Provides:  Football pants, game jerseys (players get to keep their game jersey),

Elk River High School Football Helmet decals, and a mouth guard.



2nd and 3rd Grade League

All children that will be in grades 2 or 3 for the 2008-2009 school year are eligible to play in this

league. 


The focus of the league is on teaching the kids the fundamentals of the game, and making their first

experience in organized football as fun as possible.

Practice begins on August 11th,

Games begin the week of Sept. 2nd

Season End Date is Oct 11th

 

Again This Year:  2nd and 3rd graders will play at half time of the Thursday, August 28th

Elk River High School Varsity Football Game vs. Maple Grove.



4th - 6th Grade Leagues

All children that will be in grades 4, 5, or 6 for the 2008-2009 school year are eligible to play in these

leagues.


In addition, to playing against other Elk River teams, the kids will have the opportunity to play

against teams from the Rogers.


Practice begins on August 11th

Games begin the week of Sept. 2nd

The season ends with playoffs beginning Oct 7th and the Area 728 Bowl on Sunday, October 12th.



 

7th and 8th Grade Leagues

Again this year, the  7th and 8th grade teams will play in the North Suburban Football League.
Our association believes this will better prepare prepare them for High School Football.                   The North Suburban Football league has existed for over 20 years and included 67 teams in the 7th and 8th grade last year.

Practices will begin on August 11th                                                                                                    Games will begin the week of September 4th.                                                                                           Season will end before MEA weekend.


Some details and highlights of the league are:

  •  Games on full size regulation fields
  • There will be no weight restrictions on ball carriers. Minnesota state high school league rules will be in effect including field goals, extra points, blitzing, etc.
  • Practice begins on August 11th, games begin week of September 2nd.
  • All 7th & 8th grade teams will spend a home game with Coach Cross and The Elk River Elks Varsity team, before the game in the locker room, classroom and on the Field! This is a great opportunity for your 7th or 8th grader!   
                 
  • 7th grade:
  • Most games are on weeknights, but their will be times they play weekend games.
  • Games will be played in Maple Grove, Rogers, Zimmerman and Elk River
                
  • 8th grade:
  • Most games are on weeknights, but their will be times they play weekend games.
  • Games will be played in Maple Grove, Rogers, Elk River and one other community.
