Your design is a fixed width design and the amount of viewable area will depend upon the size of the monitor. For example, on small monitors it fills the screen, on large monitors it might use only 2/3 or even less. To get total viewing area, you need to move to a variable width design that will fill the monitor regardless of monitor size.

Here is my questions:

1. How do we change to a variable width design?  Is there a cost? 

2. What are the disadvantages of doing so?  What are the advantages of staying with what we have?

There are no advantages or disadvantages.  It is all personal preference.  To change to a variable width design, all you need to do is pick on out.  YOu can see about 50 templates designs on our website at www.mystifyyourweb.com.  You can use any of those at no additional charge.  We also make third party templates available.  There is a cost of between $70 and $100 to license and use them.  There are many, many to choose from.  Please let us know if you are interested in that.
